Euroquarz finishes 2010 on a positive note

Building product manufacturer increases sales and profits

Dorsten, 24th January. Euroquarz GmbH,...

Although the sales volumes of the Dorsten specialist for extracting, conditioning and processing silica sands and quartz gravel fell slightly compared to the previous year, changes to its product range have allowed it to generate higher overall profits than it did last year. The management anticipates business to be stable in 2011. The company is furthermore planning to extensively invest in improving its existing mixing plants, which is intended to enable it to increase its capacity for producing silica sand mixtures.
The positive result Euroquarz achieved in the financial year 2010 means that it is now no longer subject to the general trends taking place in this sector. Amongst others, last year these trends included a one percent drop in revenue across all of the Germany construction sector companies, which are some of Euroquarz’s most important customers. According to Euroquarz Managing Director Dr. Olaf Enger, the company’s positive development is the result of “first successes” in its “active search for new sales markets”. He furthermore explained that the company plans to “continue to pursue its successful strategy” and “to underpin it with more investments” in the current year.
In total, Euroquarz has invested around 0.5 million Euro into, amongst others, a new mixing plant and into maintaining and improving its wheel loaders, forklifts and filter systems. The mine pits created through the company’s excavations have been filled in again as planned with clean excavated soil and under the strict supervision of the mining authority.
Notwithstanding the uncertainties in 2009 and 2010, the company’s management decided against cutting jobs and is now profiting from the expertise of its personnel, most of which have extensive experience and form the basis of the company’s successful refinement strategy. Euroquarz furthermore plans to continue to invest in its personnel and has consequently taken on four new trainees again in 2010. This also means that it is maintaining its position as one of the companies within the sector that takes on the most trainees.
Euroquarz is a medium-sized group of companies that plays an important role in the market and operates internationally. Its focal points are extracting, conditioning and processing silica sands and quartz gravel, which it supplies in the form of raw sand and auxiliary materials to customers in Europe and across the whole world, including, for example, in the USA, Japan, Australia and the Sahara.
